received emil and PM telling me to go to a website SCAMMER ALERT

hi I received a email and PM telling me my computer was sending out spam.  It came from someone that was in administration here,they said.  It told me to go to a website and have my computer checked and if i did not pass I would be reported to my ISP .  Who is this and is this spam?

If you do not pass this test  we will have to delete your account and forward a complaint to your ISP with attached log file (your IP address, etc.).

That's the unfortunate thing about forums, they do tend to be prey to spammers.

We as admin are equally as frustrated when this happens.  I have lost count of how many members I have blocked having applied to join the forum due to the fact they are not nice people/coming for the right reasons.  Sadly some seem to be a step ahead and still create problems.  If anyone ever gets something they are not sure about, contact either myself or Jeremy.  I am not so adept at understanding the runnings of the forum (Jeremy set it up) so he may be the best contact for those sort of issues, but again - I apologise if anyone is affected.  The key is NOT to even open the e mail or click on any links.  I have learned that the hard way over the years
